Coach causes a stir: "Damn asshole"

NFL veteran Aaron Rodgers and his Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a narrow away defeat in Cleveland – and caused a stir primarily with a brief verbal exchange.

In the first quarter of the game, the quarterback could be seen yelling angrily at head coach Mike McCarty on the sidelines: "What the hell! Say something!" The TV cameras also captured the coach's reply: "Fucking asshole." In the end, the Steelers, led by the 42-year-old Rodgers, lost 24-27.

"What's said on the field stays on the field, that's how I was raised. But I understand that's no longer the case today," the coach explained afterwards. "I wish I hadn't used those words."

Rodgers threw three touchdowns in the exciting match, but also threw two interceptions. After the visitors from Pittsburgh erased a 7-21 deficit, the score was tied 24-24 in a thrilling final stretch. Then, a 56-yard field goal by Browns kicker Andre Szmyt with ten seconds remaining decided the game.

Rodgers misses Brady record

The Steelers' loss to the Browns meant that Rodgers lost the last Thursday night game of his career, missing out on an all-time record on the big screen. The veteran, who will retire after this season, remains at 13 wins in "Thursday Night Football" games. The record is held by Tom Brady (14).
