Shock after Super Bowl title: shots on victory parade

Several people were hit by gunfire after the Kansas City Chiefs' victory parade after their fourth Super Bowl title.

Two armed people were arrested after the incident in Kansas City, Missouri, police said on Wednesday (local time). The condition of the victims was initially unclear; the media reported at least one death. The team around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was loudly cheered by thousands of fans.

Players and coaches traveled along a 3,22 kilometer route in a red double-decker bus. Since many schools remained closed for the day, there were also many children among the fans. Pop superstar Taylor Swift did not accompany her boyfriend Travis Kelce at the parade, according to media reports. In the run-up to the Super Bowl, the singer made headlines because she traveled from Tokyo especially for the game. Swift's next appearance is in Melbourne on Friday evening, so she has already traveled to Australia.
