Strong Steinhauser with the relay in the top 10

The Triathlon World Championships in Hamburg ended on Sunday with the mixed relay. Verena Steinhauser achieved a result in the top 10 with Italy.

Because the Azzurri do not have any top men (no Italian made it into the top 30 in the individual competition), the medal rankings before the race were not realistic. The 9th final place is a good result for Steinhauser, Michele Sarzilla, Ilaria Zane and Gianluca Pozzatti. Germany took victory (1.22,08:19 hours) ahead of New Zealand (+27 seconds) and Switzerland (+XNUMX).

After the first handover, Italy was only in 14th place and was unable to make up any decisive ground afterwards. Steinhauser ultimately made the difference on the final break. The 28-year-old from Brixen ran the fourth best time, moving up place by place and leading Italy into the top 10. After the South Tyrolean missed the targeted final in the individual decision on Saturday and came 13th, she was able to ensure a conciliatory conclusion.
