Unexpected things often happen: Steinhauser gets another chance

After her disappointing performance in the individual race, triathlete Verena Steinhauser had pretty much written off the Olympic Games. Now she is finally making an appearance.

Steinhauser will be competing with Italy's mixed relay team from 8 a.m. on Monday. The Azzurri triathlon association announced this on Sunday. This means that the Brixen triathlete will unexpectedly be able to compete in the Olympics after all.

After her disappointing 39th place in the individual race, she said: "Even though I always put in a good performance in the relay after a bad individual race, the other two (Alice Betto and Bianca Seregni) deserve to start in the relay. They finished ahead of me today. But I will be in the first row."

While Betto is in the season together with Steinhauser, Bianca Seregni was not nominated. The quartet is completed by the two men Alessio Crociani and Gianluca Pozzatti.
