Giannelli aims for the first title of the season

Even before the start of the league season next weekend, Simone Giannelli can claim the first title of the season. The Bozen volleyball star has reached the final of the Supercup with Perugia.

Last year, Giannelli won everything there is to win with Perugia: the Supercup, the Italian Cup, the championship and the Club World Cup. If it's up to the South Tyrolean, he wants to continue in the same way this year. The start was certainly a success. In the semi-finals of the Supercup, Perugia defeated Piacenza 3-1 (25:22, 23:25, 25:20, 25:21) at the PalaWanny in Florence. Giannelli will now face his former club Trentino Volley in the final on Sunday from 18 p.m.

The teams fought two very competitive opening sets in which small details made the difference. From the third set onwards, however, the favourites, led by Wassim Ben Tara (15 points) and Yuki Ishikawa (12 points), increased the pace and left their opponents no chance. Yuri Romanò & Co. fought against the impending defeat, but Perugia was unstoppable. In the final on Sunday, the Giannelli team will now face either Trento or Monza.
