World Cup: Giannelli and Co. lose the championship lead

The Azzurri's successful run was stopped after three wins in a row. The team of selection coach Blengini was unable to stand up to the USA, especially at the beginning, and was already behind in the first set with 18:25. After that, there were two evenly balanced rounds, but in the end the Americans won 29:27 and 25:23. Simone Giannelli from Bolzano scored a total of four points in his fourth World Cup appearance.

As a result of this defeat, Italy slipped back to third place in the ranking. On Sunday in Hiroshima against hosts Japan, a win is absolutely necessary in order not to lose sight of the first two places and thus direct Olympic qualification.

World Cup: Giannelli and Co. lose the championship lead

On Saturday the Italian volleyball players suffered their first defeat at the 2015 World Cup in Japan. They clearly lost 0-3 to the USA.
