A woman from Kaltern wins in Japan

Linda Oprandi from the Kalterer Sports Club recently made her big appearance at an international windsurfing event in Japan.

At the “Windsurf-IQ FOIL International Games” in Mijakojima, Japan, Oprandi achieved second place in the MedalRace and thus the silver medal. The athlete from the Windsurfing Kaltern-Stuffer club finished the competition very narrowly behind Sofia Renna from Torbole, who was 2 years older. Linda also won the special prize for being the fastest in the event.

On the 4 days of the competition, a total of 25 races, 10 slaloms and 15 course races took place at temperatures of 15 degrees and wind speeds of 10 to 5 knots.

Oprandi was very consistent, always in the top 5, won 2 races and was second 7 times. She finished the basic round in second place overall, tied on points with first-placed Yuki Sunaga from Japan. Oprandi won the U23 classification comfortably ahead of Sophia Meyer from Germany and Renna from Trentino.
