The South Tyrolean canoeists showed strong performances.

2 athletes from SC Meran triumph in Carinthia

Annika Zoe Senoner and Sara Furlan were crowned winners in the single kayak event at the ECA Junior Cup in Flattach this weekend.

After the cancellation of the Italian U18 canoe slalom championship on the Noce at Sulzberg (Trentino), the plan was changed. 4 slalom canoeists, 2 boys and 2 girls from SC Meran/Raika-Torggler took part in the ECA Junior Cup for slalom canoeists in Flattach/Carinthia on Saturday and Sunday. For 3 of them, the participation was more than worthwhile.

Two canoe slalom races were held on the Möll, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. "The races on the Möll were very challenging due to the high water level. Given the great performances of all the Meran canoeists, I am already looking forward to the other ECA Cups that will follow," beamed SCM coach Stefan Senoner. His daughter, Annika Zoe Senoner, and Sara Furlan from SC Meran did particularly well.

Positive conclusion

Both took second place in the single kayak in their age group on Saturday, Annika Zoe Senoner in the U2 and Sara Furlan in the U18. On Sunday, the two women from Merano were able to improve again and even win the canoe slalom in their age group, Senoner as an ex-aequo winner with the Slovenian Lea Senica. Furlan was the overall winner in the U16, Senoner took second place in the U16 overall ranking. "Despite the lack of preparation on site, I managed to complete three good runs. I am very satisfied with my performance," said a delighted Sara Furlan.

"After several weeks of intensive training, I am happy to have achieved a good result, even if I missed the overall K1 victory in the U18 by a hundredth of a second," summed up Annika Zoe Senoner. Her brother, Lars Aaron Senoner, also put on an excellent performance. The son of the SCM coach completed a mammoth program in Flattach at the weekend and took part in 4 canoe slalom races with qualifying and final runs, 2 in the single kayak and 2 in the single canoe in the U16 age group. In the single kayak he even reached a podium place on Sunday. After fourth place on Saturday, he improved to second place on Sunday. In the U4 single canoe he missed the final run on Saturday. On Sunday he reached the final run and took 2th place.

Lars Aaron Senoner is also satisfied

"I completed two clean final runs with my new boat. Today it went particularly well," said a delighted Lars Aaron Senoner. The fourth slalom canoeist from SC Meran, Jakob Tribus, did not reach the final run in the U2 single kayak at the Junior Cup in Flattach on either Saturday or Sunday.
