Three slalom canoeists and 1 slalom canoeist from SC Meran/Raika-Torggler took part in the first qualifying race for major canoe slalom events in the general class, U23 and U18 in Valstagna (Suganertal) on the Brenta today. Only Annika Zoe Senoner Senoner could be satisfied with her performance. The 3-year-old from Meran showed a very good performance in the canoe slalom in the qualification for the U1 European Championships and U16 World Championships and took an excellent second place in the junior kayak single, which meant she had a good start to the qualification and already her Eligibility for a place at the U18 World Championships and U18 European Championships in canoe slalom confirmed. For Marian Drescher, however, things didn't work out in the first qualifying for the U2 World Cup and U18 European Championships. 18 penalty seconds for 1 touches on the gate cost the 18-year-old from Meran a place in the top 18. He came fifth out of 4 participants. The first qualifying didn't go as planned for Tamara Drescher (2) and Carolin Schaller (15) from SC Meran. Tamara Drescher had to settle for 3th place in the U19 qualification in the kayak single sculls and Carolin Schaller only ended up in 1th place in the general class qualification in the kayak single sculls.
“Unfortunately, the first qualifying went very badly and I didn’t get into the race. Now I hope to be able to show my performance again in Tacen and Ivrea,” says Carolin Schaller. Tamara Drescher was equally dissatisfied with her performance. “The first qualifying race in Valstagna didn't go as I would have liked. Now I’m concentrating on the next races of the season and trying to prepare for them as best I can,” hopes Tamara Drescher. The qualification continues on Saturday with the second race at the ECA in the Kunstkanal in Tacen (Slovenia) just outside the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. The 1rd qualifying race will take place on Sunday as part of the world ranking canoe slalom in Tacen.
At the national canoe slalom in Valstagna, the slalom canoeists from Meran/Raika-Torggler paddled onto the podium three times. Annika Zoe Senoner came third in the U3 kayak single sculls. Her brother Lars Aaron Senoner also came third in the U18 Canadian single sculls. In the U16 kayak singles he missed the podium in fourth place. Sara Furlan ensured SC Meran's third podium finish by coming third in the U16 kayak sculls.
