Cause of death of badminton talent clarified

In the case of the Chinese badminton talent who suddenly collapsed and died during a match, the cause of death has been determined.

The conclusion of the examinations and treatment showed that Zhang Zhijie had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, said Broto Happy, spokesman for the Indonesian Badminton Association. The 17-year-old Chinese suddenly collapsed on Sunday during a match at the Asian Youth Championships in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Rescue workers then took the talented Chinese youth national team player to a hospital. According to Broto Happy, Zhang had no pulse when he arrived there and did not respond to resuscitation efforts. A few hours later, doctors declared him dead. According to the association spokesman, Zhang's parents are now awaiting repatriation in Indonesia.
