Family Trophy delights South Tyrol's badminton families in Kaltern
On Palm Sunday, Kaltern was all about family, exercise, and fair play: At the first VSS/Raiffeisen Family Trophy 2026 in badminton, children up to 12 years old competed together with a family member and experienced their sport in a special way. A total of 51 pairs from several South Tyrolean clubs ensured a packed hall and a fantastic atmosphere.

The format is deliberately aimed at recreational sports and focuses on the shared experience. Whether beginner or club player, everyone could try badminton, compete, and, above all, have fun across generations. In addition to up to four matches per pair, a shared meal, gift baskets, and a lottery, contributed by the sports club association, ensured a thoroughly successful event.
“The first VSS/Raiffeisen Badminton Family Trophy in Kaltern was all about family, exercise, and fair play. It was a thoroughly successful event that not only inspired sporting enthusiasm but also focused on community and values,” emphasized VSS Vice Chairman Thomas Tiefenbrunner. The event impressively demonstrated the value of accessible and family-friendly programs for youth and recreational sports and the strong sense of community within the South Tyrolean badminton community.
Special thanks go to the Association of Sports Clubs of South Tyrol, especially badminton representative Claudia Nista, and to the organizing club Badminton Überetsch, led by Vice President Günther Andergassen. Together with numerous parents, coaches, and members of the recreational group, they ensured a smooth event that perfectly combined sport, community, and enjoyment.
