Victory with track record: Sofia Saxl shines

In her team Fugger Sterzing's away match, she delivered an outstanding score of 633 pins, setting a new women's single lane record in the bowling alley at the Tirol clubhouse. She was also able to celebrate her team's victory, as Fugger Sterzing convincingly defeated Tirol Mutspitz 6-0 and now leads the league table again.

Saxl wasn't the only one to surpass the 600 mark that day. Gabriele Bürger also achieved this feat in her first match against Tyrolean bowler Eva Gamper. Bürger knocked down 605 pins, defeating Gamper, who scored 512, with a decisive 4-0 victory. Then Sofia Saxl's star shone brightly as she faced another bowling talent, Silvia Gaiser. Both played brilliantly, but Gaiser's 588 pins were no match for Saxl's 633 – all four sets went to the Fugger player.

Next up were Dora Rinner for Tirol Mutspitz and Sabrina Parigger for Fugger Sterzing. And once again the visitors cheered, as Parigger won the match 587:580 (3:1 in sets). Marion Thaler then sealed the victory against Gabriele Gamper. Her 569 pins secured all four set points, especially since Gamper, with 471 pins, wasn't at her usual form. Thus, Fugger Sterzing took all four match points.

The Wipptal women also finished far ahead in the overall score, securing a 6-0 victory with a total of 2394:2151 pins. This puts Fugger Sterzing, the reigning champions, back at the top of the league table.

Fugger maintain the hierarchy KK Neumarkt clearly holds the dominant position in the men's A1 league. However, the race for the runner-up title is always exciting, even though Fugger Sterzing remains the top contender. The match against Kurtatsch is always a top game for the Wipptal team. This was also the case on Saturday when the two teams faced each other in Tramin.

Kurtatsch, which is playing its home matches in Tramin due to renovations at its own bowling alley, has consistently finished third in recent years. The team from the Unterland region enjoys a high reputation and a large following in the village, including among young bowlers. However, in the top-of-the-table clash against Fugger Sterzing, they ultimately suffered a clear defeat. The Wipptal team won the match 7-1.

Florian Thaler, representing Fugger Sterzing, got off to a strong start against the young Isaak Peer, winning his match 583:518 (3:1 in sets). At the same time, Aaron Peer Pratzer was on the lanes for Kurtatsch and Egon Ralser for Sterzing. Again, the Fugger bowler had the upper hand, with Ralser winning narrowly 577:570 (2,5:1,5 in sets).

And the Fuggers pressed on relentlessly: First, Thomas Rainer defeated Alexander Schweiggl 566:561 (3:1 in sets), then Stefan Zini delivered the day's best performance against Tobias Gruber, winning 616:541 (3:1 in sets).

Kurtatsch's current star player, Andreas Dalvai, secured his team's consolation point in the fifth match. He defeated Manuel Hofer 611:571, with both winning two sets. Finally, Norbert Schgraffer was defeated by Fugger's exceptional player, Reinhard Gruber, 543:599 and 0:4 in sets.

A look at the overall result also showed the dominance of Fugger Sterzing: With 3512:3334 pins, they won clearly there as well, securing their 7:1 victory. This keeps them in second place.
