These bowling ladies came close to pulling off the big coup.

The young team from the Burggrafenamt region, still in contention for a top-three finish in the standings, gave Sarnen everything they had in their home game at the Riffian fire station last Thursday. Led by an outstanding Kristina Pöhl, they ultimately had to concede defeat, losing 2-4.

Particularly noteworthy was Kristina Pöhl's performance. In her third match, she faced Sarn's star player, Adele Ainhauser, and truly drove her experienced opponent to despair. Pöhl racked up a magnificent 601 pins after four sets, winning them all. Ainhauser's score remained at a still respectable 547 pins, but the Sarn player had no choice but to congratulate her opponent.

The score was tied 1-1 after the first two matches. Young talent Greta Trojer scored for Sarntal, defeating Burggräfler's Judith Gasser 549-509 (3-1 in sets). However, host Natalie Prantl immediately leveled the score. The Burggräfler player defeated Angelika Stauder 561-547, also winning three sets.

After Pöhl and Ainhauser, Helene Gasser (Burggräfler) and Dagmar Wiedenhofer (Sarntal) were up next. Here, Sarntal's captain prevailed, Wiedenhofer winning 584:515 (3:1 in sets). Therefore, the overall result had to decide the winner. Sarntal led with 2227:2186 pins and won a thrilling match 4:2. This also puts Ainhauser and her teammates in a strong position, as they defeated Fugger Sterzing 5:1 in their rescheduled match last Monday and now have a three-point lead.

They came close, but in the end the hosts had knocked down two more pins thanks to their score of 3431:3429 and thus won 5:3. It couldn't have been much closer.

When two pins decide the game It couldn't get much more exciting! Last Saturday, a memorable encounter took place on the bowling alley at Lido Lana.

In the men's A1 class, hosts Lana faced Passeier. The match was highly exciting and very evenly matched, so that in the end the overall result had to decide the winner. There, Lana edged ahead by a mere two pins and won 5:3.

But let's start from the beginning: Lana got off to a strong start thanks to the best performance of the day by Georg Plaickner (617 pins) against Passeier player Walter Pichler (567 pins), but Hugo Ennemoser immediately equalized with a 588:571 pin victory over Lana's Karl Egger.

Then Lana put themselves in a position thanks to the team points from Franz Höller (581:562 pins against Passeier bowler Markus Prünster) and Johann Rungaldier (581:548 pins against Helmuth Zipperle/Passeier) and led 3:1 after four duels.

Passeier, still fighting to avoid relegation, never gave up and managed to equalize in the last two matches. First, Freddy Unterthurner defeated Lana player Hannes Pichler 579:530, then Oswald Kofler secured the 3:3 draw with a 585:551 victory against Lana's Reinhard Obergasteiger.

So the overall result had to decide the outcome. The race for the lead based on total pins developed into a real thriller, especially in the last two matches. Passeier Lana almost managed to pull off another victory.
