Filip Schenk climbs into the semifinals

The Lead World Cup for sport climbers is taking place in Koper, Slovenia. 57 professionals took part in the (interminably long) qualification yesterday morning. Filip Schenk (20) from Val Gardena, who came 24th, made it into today's semi-final of the top 26 starting at 20 p.m.

26 sport climbers will be able to compete in the semifinals this evening for the eight final places for Sunday (20 p.m.). Schenk after the qualification: "My first climbing route was okay. The second could have been better. There is still room for improvement for the semifinals."

The best preliminary fight was shown by the Japanese Sorato Anraku, ahead of the Briton Toby Roberts. Five other Japanese finished in the top 10. As the second best Azzurro, Giorgio Tomatis also made it into the semi-finals with 26th place. Michael Piccolruaz (Gröden) did not start.
