Filip Schenk is the best in his field

Filip Schenk from Val Gardena lives up to his role as favorite and wins the Italian championship in lead, difficult climbing. He skipped the Boulder World Cup in Salt Lake City to prepare for the lead season. After achieving an excellent result at the Italian Championships last weekend, he is starting the World Cup season motivated. This starts in July. Like Filip Schenk, Michael Piccolruaz also comes from Val Gardena and competes for Fiamme Oro, the police sports group. Piccolruaz came 6th. Right behind him, Fritz Engele from AVS Meran came 7th. Engele, just 15 years old, made it to the adult final for the first time in the most important national competition. Of the 10 athletes in the final, he is the youngest. In the women's category, Vanessa Kofler is the only South Tyrolean to make it to the final. Kofler is a youth athlete and competes for AVS Passeier. She managed an incredibly strong semifinal and ended up in 4th place. In the final she falls back to 9th place. Laura Rogora from Fiamme Oro wins in the women's category. The best athletes will soon be coming to Brixen for the home World Cup (June 9th to 11th). The two local athletes Filip Schenk and Michael Piccolruaz will be there.
