Italian Youth Cup: South Tyrolean athletes start strong

South Tyrolean athletes have made a strong start to this year's Italian Youth Cup bouldering competition series. This past weekend in Teramo, two athletes from the U15 and U17 categories finished in the top 10.

The Italian Youth Cup consists of two competitions. The first event took place over the weekend at the Mondi Verticali climbing gym in Teramo. A total of 100 athletes in the U15 and U17 categories participated, having qualified through preliminary rounds.

The South Tyrolean AVS delegation travelled to Teramo by train with twelve promising athletes and two coaches – full of motivation and with the clear goal of climbing into the podium places.

Solid performance

Our athletes showed solid performances: Six of them made it into the top 10. Two athletes even made it into the final of the top eight.

Vera Nagler (AVS Brixen) qualified for the final in sixth place in the girls' U15 category. Daniel Oberrauch (AVS Meran) achieved fifth place in the boys' U17 qualification round, also securing his place in the final.

In the final, Vera Nagler impressed with a strong performance and ultimately finished in 5th place in her category. Daniel Oberrauch couldn't quite maintain his qualifying position and finished the competition in 7th place. The next Italian Youth Cup will take place on March 28th in Brescia.
