The young climbers point out

At the Lagorai climbing center in Villagnedo (Valsugana) 152 young athletes took part at the weekend. The U12 to U20 categories climbed a speed competition.

Speed ​​climbing is about speed: a standardized route is climbed as quickly as possible. The speed is secured using top rope, i.e. with rope securing from above. The time stops as soon as the climber triggers a buzzer at the end of the route. These competitions are exciting for the audience, but for the climbers a false start has a disastrous effect on the result. The competitions in the Junior Cup on the weekend remained exciting until the last participant.

In the men's category, AVS Meran dominated the speed competition with three first places; in the U16, U18 and U20 categories, two podium places went to the participants from Meran.

Among the women, the climbers from Arco Climbing impressed in the U18 and U20 categories. In the girls' U16 category, two athletes from AVS St. Pauls made it onto the podium, taking 1st and 2nd place. Two U12 girls from AVS Passeier achieved the same. In the U14 girls category, all three podium places went to athletes from AVS Brixen.

The next stage in the Junior Cup will take place from May 3rd to 5th in Meran with a bouldering competition.
