Anna Oberparleiter 7th at the World Cup Eliminator in Albstadt

Oberparleiter set the fifth best time in the qualification. In the fourth run of the round of 16, she took second place behind Serbian Jelena Eric and safely made it to the quarter-finals. Here too, Oberparleiter came second behind the Dutchwoman Anne Terpstra. In the semi-finals it was no longer enough to progress. Oberparleiter had to admit defeat to the Swedish world champion Alexandra Engen and Terpstra again and had to settle for third place. The South Tyrolean then started in the “small final”, where she ultimately came seventh behind the Norwegian Ingrid Boe Jacobsen and the Swiss Ramona Forchini.

The victory in Albstadt also went to a Swiss woman, Kathrin Stirnemann. In the final she defeated Alexandra Engen, her compatriot Linda Indergand and Anne Terpstra. In the overall World Cup standings, Engen leads after three races with 160 points, 35 points ahead of Stirnemann. Eva Lechner, who didn't start today, is the best “Azzurra” in sixth place with 34 points, while Oberparleiter scored points for the first time this year and is now in 16th place with 13 points.

The Belgian Fabrice Mels won among the men. Favorite Daniel Federspiel from Austria was eliminated in qualifying after a chain broke. There were no South Tyroleans at the start, the best Italian in the race was Elia Silvestri in 7th place.

Lechner, Kerschbaumer and Rabensteiner were also in action at the weekend

The World Cup in Albstadt continues with the cross-country races on Saturday and Sunday. A total of eight South Tyroleans will be in action: Gerhard Kerschbaumer and Fabian Rabensteiner (both elite men), Eva Lechner and Anna Oberparleiter (elite women), Maximilian Vieider (U23 men), Greta Weithaler and Greta Seiwald (both juniors) and Lisa Rabensteiner (U23 Women), who has already made it to the third highest podium twice in this year's World Cup season (Pietermaritzburg and Nove Mesto).

Anna Oberparleiter 7th at the World Cup Eliminator in Albstadt

Anna Oberparleiter was the only South Tyrolean at the start of the Eliminator race at the World Cup in Albstadt on Friday. The 23-year-old from Olanger drove a strong race and took an excellent 7th place. .
