Laura Stigger made a strong statement at the Cross-Country World Cup in Nove Mesto. The North Tyrolean rider won the elite women's race on Sunday in convincing fashion, finishing the 26,6-kilometer course in 1:21:32. Jenny Rissveds of Sweden and Sina Frei of Switzerland finished behind Stigger, tied for second and third place, 47 seconds back.
From an Italian perspective, Martina Berta was the strongest rider of the day. The Azzurra finished in twelfth place, 3 minutes and 24 seconds behind the winner. Greta Seiwald, who rides for the Decathlon Ford Racing Team and only recently returned to the World Cup after a long injury break, finished the race in 35th place. The rider from Gsies crossed the finish line after 1 hour, 29 minutes, and 29 seconds, 7 minutes and 57 seconds behind winner Stigger.

For Seiwald, following her successful comeback at the World Cup opener in South Korea, this was another important race at the highest level. Although the South Tyrolean couldn't replicate her 20th place finish from the beginning of May, she once again collected valuable race kilometers and World Cup points in a highly competitive field.
