From crazy races, team victories and 1500-meter runs at full speed

The 29th South Tyrol Dolomiti Superbike ended on Saturday, July 13th with a double victory for the host country by Samuele Porro and local hero Sandra Mairhofer. We have captured the voices of the protagonists of the 29th edition of the legendary MTB classic in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region.

Samuele Porro (winner): Today we did a great job as a team. We are Daniel Geismayr, Fabian Rabensteiner and I. Daniel did a lot of leading work and on the home straight Fabian let me take the win because I have supported him many times. It is really great that I was able to win the Südtirol Dolomiti Superbike for the second time after 2018. We knew that we had to keep Leonardo Paez at bay. We attacked on the last descent, Paez made a mistake and then we just had to make it to the finish.

Fabian Rabensteiner (2nd place): That was an amazing race today. We worked very well as a team, especially Daniel (Geismayr, editor's note) who gave it his all for us from Toblach to the Plätzwiesen climb. We decided not to sprint to the finish line on the home straight and I'm happy for Samuele's victory. Now we'll recharge our batteries before we start preparing for the races at the end of the season where the medals count.

Sandra Mairhofer (winner): Winner of the 2024 South Tyrol Dolomiti Superbike - that sounds incredibly cool. I'm really happy that I was able to win here at my home race, which I like so much. Where did I make the difference? I was able to pull away on the last climb and keep my lead until the finish. Things have actually been going really well for me since the start of the season and I hope that I can continue this form. Now I'm concentrating on the European Mountain Bike Championships in the marathon, even if the course profile doesn't necessarily benefit my qualities.

Agnes Tschurtschenthaler (3rd place): Today was like a 1500-meter race, which I started at full speed and maintained the extremely high pace until the end. I gave it my all and am extremely pleased that I was able to come third this year after second place last year. The field of participants was not bad, there were some very strong girls in the race.
