Pole Kwiatkowski new world champion, 80th Quinziato

At the Cycling World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain, Italy dictated the pace for a long time with Manuel Quinziato from Bolzano, but the title surprisingly went to Poland's Michal Kwiatkowsi, who was able to save his narrow lead at the finish in a dramatic finale. Australian Simon Gerrans won silver and Spaniard Alejandro Valverde won bronze.
