Mourning in Italy: Cycling ace dies at 25

Italian cyclist Kevin Bonaldo has died at the age of 25, one month after collapsing during a race.

Bonaldo's team, SC Padovani Polo Cherry Bank, said he had been fighting for his life in a hospital in the northern Italian city of Vicenza since the incident in September. However, he died this morning.

Bonaldo collapsed after crossing the finish line of the Piccola Sanremo race in Sovizzo on September 21. He was taken to the intensive care unit and placed in an artificial coma. His team said there had been hope for an improvement in his condition for a time. However, his condition had continued to deteriorate in the last few hours.

Bonaldo's brother: "Kevin fought every day until the end"

Bonaldo's team expressed their deep sadness at his death and expressed their condolences to his family and loved ones. Bonaldo's brother Antonio thanked everyone who supported him during his hospital stay on behalf of the family: "Kevin felt all this encouragement and fought every day until the very end."
