The Maratona dles Dolomites inspires the sports world

The motto of this year's edition was Umanité, which is the Ladin word for humanity. OC boss Michil Costa and the Maratona team wanted to make an exclamation mark against wars, conflicts and crises. The weather was also right for the 36th edition, so the beautiful panorama was once again optimally presented. The 138-year-old Frenchman Loic Ruffaut took victory over 30 km with a time of 4:29.41,6 hours. He won ahead of the Italian Tommaso Elettrico (4:30.13) and the North Tyrolean Patrick Hagenaars (4:30.13,1).

In the women's race, Samantha Arnaudo (5:05.44,9) from Piedmont won the 138 km. Lombard Mattia Gaffuri won the men's 106 km (3:21.46,6). Franz Wieser (3:26.06,1) from Badia came fourth in this category. Anna Tröbinger (4:26.40,5) from Tscherms took fifth place among women in the same distance. This meant she was around 12 minutes slower than winner Olga Capiello from Turin. In the men's 55 km race, Tomas Hintner (1:57.02,6) from Welsberg won ahead of Wilfried Wisthaler (2:03.00,9) from Percha.

Lots of familiar faces Biathlete Lisa Vittozzi (2:39.45,9) took fourth place in the women's 55 km. By the way, Dorothea Wierer wasn't there this year because she's working at the Summer Biathlon Festival in Frassinoro (Modena) this weekend. Giulia Soffiati took victory in the Vittozzi category (2.18.36,6). This year again many well-known professional athletes took part in the Maratona. These include Christof Innerhofer, Mattia Casse, Laura Pirovano (all alpine skiing) and Federico Pellegrino (cross-country skiing).

Local hero Manfred Mölgg also didn't miss the spectacle. Former cycling star Vincenzo Nibali took part in the Maratona dles Dolomites for the first time this year.
