A special challenge for all winter sports enthusiasts

A year ago, the athletes from the various clubs in the Athlete Bike Store were able to take part in the FISI Bike Challenge and cycle as a team to the Stelvio Pass on the WAHOO-Bike ergometer (a stationary bike that can digitally recreate any route). A lot has changed in the run-up to this year's second edition: In order to bring the Bike Challenge to the clubs, there are now five stations on the program scattered across the country. It starts on Friday, July 21st in Ortisei in Val Gardena and will be cycled in three different age groups: the U12 (2012 and younger), in the GrandPrix category (2008 to 2011), and Junior&Over (2007 and older).

The rules are easy to understand: Each club is allowed to register five athletes per age group. In ten minutes on the WAHOO bike, each participant has to cycle as far as possible on the virtual route from Prad to Stelfersjoch. After these ten minutes it is the next person's turn until after 50 minutes all five team members have had their turn. The total kilometers are then recorded and the big award ceremony takes place after the fifth stage.

To take part, those interested do not necessarily have to be a winter sports enthusiast. Parents, acquaintances or winter sports fans can also register for a club as long as they have a FISI membership card. There is also a registration fee of 10 euros per stage, for which you will be rewarded with a starter pack and an exclusive bike shirt.

Start in Val Gardena with some specials As already mentioned at the beginning, this year's FISI Bike Challenge starts on July 21st in Val Gardena. To properly celebrate the start, there are also some specials on the program. For example, a team consisting of South Tyrolean stars from the winter sports scene will compete against a team of guests of honor. Alex Vinatzer, Florian Schieder, Vicky Bernardi (all alpine skiing), Aaron Kostner (Nordic combined), Leon Felderer (artistic track tobogganing), Rene Monteleone (freestyle skiing) and Lara and Jessica Malsiner (both ski jumping) will be competing in the winter sports category. Nicol and Nadia Delago (both alpine skiers) have also announced their participation. After the challenge, the successful premiere will be toasted with a drink.

After the start in Val Gardena, the second stage continues in Merano on Saturday, August 12th. Less than a week later, the third stop is in Bruneck on Friday, August 18th, before Kaltern invites you on Saturday, September 2nd. The FISI Bike Challenge will conclude on Friday, September 22nd with the fifth stage in Brixen. As part of the mountain bike testival taking place there, the final award ceremony will also take place in the cathedral city. Each first-placed club in the respective category will be awarded a training weekend. In addition, three cash prizes will be raffled off among all participating clubs.
