Tour De France: Cavendish wins, Froome loses lead

According to the route plan, the day's section from Tours to Saint-Amaind-Montrort in the Indre-et-Loire department had little to offer that was exciting. The 13th stage turned out to be extremely eventful. The strong wind and constant attacks meant that many different groups formed over the last 50 kilometers.

The most surprising attack was launched by the Saxo-Bank team with two-time Tour winner Contador in the lead 30 kilometers from the finish. 14 riders separated themselves from the rest, including Mollema, Ten Dam and Kreuziger. The Briton Mark Cavendish ultimately prevailed in the sprint. The outcome of the tour is therefore completely open again. Froome retained the yellow jersey, but lost 1,09 minutes of his lead. Manuel Quinziato from Bolzano, who showed great responsiveness today, finished in the same group as Froome.
