Riding fever is rampant in Meran

The fourth racing day of the season takes place on Sunday at the horse racing facility in Untermais. There are six flat and steeplechase races on the program with a total of 53 horses from Italy, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

In addition to the strongest Italian jockey, Gabriele Agus, the top Czech jockeys Jan Faltejsek and Josef Bartos will also be at the start again. The focus of the program is the hunting race for the Whit Monday prize (for five-year-old and older horses, 3.900 meters, 25.000 euros). The starting field includes ten thoroughbreds.


The Whit Monday Prize is a preparatory test for the Great Hunting Race of Europe. The field is led by Gangster De Coddes. The gelding from the Aichner family racing stable will start the race with Josef Bartos in the saddle. He finished third in the Grand Prix in 2022 and is announced by trainer Josef Vana Jr. to be in good form.

He is accompanied by his stablemate Gracieux Du Logis (Jan Kratochvil), who is back in the action after an almost two-year break from racing. Also traveling from the Czech Republic is the mare Lady In The Lake (R. Bens), who impressed at her first start in Meran. Greg Wroblewski sends Burschi (Jan Faltejsek) into the race for the Polish colors of Jakub Kartus.

Pony rides for children

The race starts at 14 p.m., the racecourse and the restaurant open at 12 p.m. - a tour of the racecourse takes place at 13 p.m. The breaks between races are filled with live musical performances. Children have the opportunity to go pony riding.
