Sunday is race day in Merano: What can we expect?

The 12th racing day of the summer-autumn season takes place on Sunday at the Meran horse racing course. Starting at 14.30:6 p.m., there will be 14 flat and steeplechase races for thoroughbreds and a race for Haflinger horses in which XNUMX mares will take part.

The autumn season culminates in the big turf weekend on September 23rd and 24th with the Grand Prix of Meran South Tyrol. The Maiaoktoberfest with the autumn races of the Haflinger horses concludes this year's racing season on October 8th.

3 obstacle races and 3 races for amateurs on the flat track are on the program on Sunday, September 10th. The focus of the sporting program is the 3-year-old hurdle race for the Rotary Club prize (3.000 meters, 12.100 euros in prize money) with 5 participants. A total of 47 horses from the Czech Republic, Austria and the host country will compete in the day's 7 races.

The main race on Sunday

Five 3-year-old hurdlers meet in the Prize Rotary Club. Paolo Favero saddles the hurdle debutant Island King, who will start the race with Dominik Pastuszka. Kanza also made his first start over hurdles. The Czech mare is ridden by Jan Faltejsek. Also traveling from the Czech Republic is Si Jolie, who will take part in the race with the Ukrainian O. Ryzhak. The Aichner racing team sends Tonk into the race. The gelding ridden by Jan Kratochvil can improve on the last disappointing races. Alizee, on the other hand, had a good debut. The mare trained by Alessio Pollioni took a good second place behind the Pole Anfield in her hurdle start.
