3 new course records at the Skymarathon

457 athletes from 24 nations took part in the sixth edition of the Skymarathon Rosengarten-Schlern in Tiers on Sunday, July 8th. Numerous records tumbled.

The trail run, supported by Dynafit, leads around the Rosengarten massif. The long route continues over the Molignon Pass towards Schlern and over Tiers' local mountain, Tschafon, back to the village center. The short route runs from the Grasleitenpass over the Tschamintal back to the village. The run is highly praised by athletes and amateur athletes.

“Mega route, incredible scenery, I'm speechless,” were the comments from the winners on the short route, where there were two new course records: Hannes Perkmann from Sarntal won with a time of 3:25.28 hours and the Swiss Anne-Catherine Rigort won with a time of 4:18.21. “This is one of the most beautiful routes ever and I always enjoy coming to Tiers,” said the newly crowned runner-up world champion in trail running Andreas Reiterer, who dominated the race over the 45 kilometers without asphalt with a time of 4:58.50.

OK team draws positive conclusions

The fastest woman over the 45 kilometers was Katharina Esswein with a time of 6:18.51 - closely followed by Edeltraud Thaler with a time of 6:19.21. Both have beaten Regina Spiess' 2021 course record. OC boss Bernhard Rieder is visibly relieved that the sixth edition in a row took place without incident and with a lot of praise for the organizers: “I am overjoyed with how the race went and would like to thank the OC team, the sponsors and “The many volunteers without whom such an event would not be possible.” The next edition will take place on July 13, 2024.
