Anna Hofer and Emily Vucemillo stood at the Italian Mountain Running Championships

Anna Hofer is crowned Italian mountain running champion

The second and last race of the Italian Mountain Running Championships took place on Sunday in Casnigo (Bergamo). The U20 athletes from the Meran Sports Club were in the spotlight.

At the first “Up & Down” race in Limana on May 7th, Emily Vucemillo and Anna Hofer showed a strong performance in the junior competition and took second and third place. This Sunday in Casnigo, too, the Passerstadt women were in a class of their own: Hofer beat Vucemillo on the 2 km long route in 3 minutes (+6,3 minutes) and was thus crowned U43.45 Italian champion. Third place went to Elisa Peverelli in 1.23 minutes.

In the men's main race over 10 km, Hannes Perkmann from Sarnen came sixth, Martina Falchetti from Val Gardena came fifth in the women's race, and Andrea Schweigkofler, now 5, came eighth. The SC Meran women's team secured the Italian championship title in the overall ranking of the general mountain running class for the first time in its history. An amazing performance.
