FC Südtirol: Three points are needed!

“We are still chewing over the defeat against Spezia because conceding a goal two minutes before the end of the game ruined an excellent performance. Throughout the game we stood up to the second-place team, who are also probably the strongest team in the entire championship. We have to build on that because we have once again proven that we have what it takes to take part in the playoffs,” said defense chief Pietro Cascone, assessing the games in the final spurt of the championship.

On Wednesday at 15 p.m. FCS hosts Carrarese, who, despite a drop in performance in recent weeks, remain a stubborn opponent, breathing down the necks of the white-reds with just two points less. The championship is coming to an end and there are only three games left, concentrated over twelve days. FC Südtirol can use a double home schedule: Carrarese comes tomorrow, followed by Trapani on Sunday. The FCS has to earn at least four points in order to be able to secure participation in the playoffs on the last matchday, on May 6th in Cremona.

As with Sunday's defeat in La Spezia, Mister Stroppa can count on his entire squad against Carrarese, with the exception of the long-term injured Luca Franchini. In the central defense, Pietro Cascone, Massimiliano Tagliani and Hannes Kiem are fighting for a starting place. Alessandro Furlan and Francesco Uliano should have a regular place in midfield, while the decision between Michael Bacher and Alessandro Campo is still open. There are no signs of impending changes in attack and confirmation of the trio of Andrea Schenetti, Niccolò Giannetti and Manuel Filehner is considered certain.

Carrarese has been waiting for an away win since October

Carrarese was only promoted to the First Division this season and has played a good championship overall, even if there has been a sharp drop in performance in the last few weeks. Coach Stefano Sottili's team only managed to equalize at home against Feralpisalò on Sunday and had previously suffered two defeats. The result of the last six games is modest with four points. Carrarese has not been away since October 30th.

On Sunday in Bolzano, Sottili will have to do without the suspended Orlandi and Taddei, as well as probably also the injured Bregliano. There will be 33-year-old midfielder Nicola Corrent, who has great experience in Serie A with Como and Modena, as well as playing in Serie B with Monza, Salernitana, Siena, Como, Ternana and Verona. In all likelihood, Giuseppe Giovinco, brother of national player Sebastian, will at least return to the substitutes' bench. The team's top scorer is Gaeta with 9 goals.

FC Südtirol: Three points are needed!

The season in the 1st division of the Lega Pro has long since entered the home straight. In the remaining three games, FC Südtirol definitely wants to get the points they need to qualify for the play-offs - starting with the match on Wednesday in the Drususstadion against Carrarese.
