Allegri has to worry about losing his job after freaking out

The coach of the Italian Cup winners Juventus Turin, Massimiliano Allegri, has to fear for his job despite Wednesday's success.

According to media reports, the 56-year-old is about to be released after a freak out. Allegri received a red card in the 1-0 win against Atalanta in Rome for arguing with the fourth official. On the way to the press conference he is supposed to meet the editor-in-chief of the sports newspaper Tuttosport have threatened.

Guido Vaciago claimed in an online article on Thursday that Allegri had called him a "shitty director" who was spreading lies. He then even pushed him, put his finger under his nose and threatened: “I know where I can pick you up. I know where to wait for you. I'll come and rip both your ears off. I'll come and hit you in the face." Allegri was then held back by a spokeswoman for the club and an official.

Allegri denies it

Juventus – now 15-time cup winners – apologized for their behavior. Allegri himself had a statement distributed through his lawyer that evening. In it he spoke of a “violent verbal argument in the excitement of the moment,” during which both loudly insulted each other. However, he otherwise disputed the journalist's account.

According to a newspaper report La Repubblica his dismissal without notice is being considered. U19 coach Paolo Montero could take over for the last two games in Serie A, the paper wrote. Also the Italian news agency HANDLE reported in the afternoon about a possible separation. Juve are said to already have Bologna's successful coach Thiago Motta negotiate a multi-year contract.

Either way, Allegri's season is already over. The league gave him a two-game ban and a fine of 5.000 euros on Thursday because of the red card. In the championship, Juventus, fourth in the table, has already secured qualification for the Champions League.
