Serie A opener: Napoli and Inter celebrate

The ball is rolling again in Italy's football stadiums. At the start of the new Serie A season, the “Scudetto” contenders Inter and defending champions Napoli were immediately in demand. Both completed their starting task without any major problems. Meanwhile, Hellas Verona (1-0 against Empoli) and Firontina (4-1 against Genoa) also started with three points. The other big players in the boot state such as Roma, Juventus and Lazio will join the action on Sunday, while AC Milan fans will have to wait until Monday.

After a leisurely first few minutes of the game, the Nerazzurri class suddenly caused the first celebrations in Milan. It only took 8 minutes for Inter to arrive in the new Serie A season. The perpetrator was top striker Lautaro Martinez, who gave his club a 1-0 lead after a precise pass into the middle from Denzel Dumfries. The Milanese team did not rest on their laurels and continued to play forward diligently, but Simone Inzaghi's men were unable to double their lead before the half-time whistle. Monza showed little progress and had to be content with being behind after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the balance of power in Milan did not change: Inter pressed, Monza tried to defend. But in the 76th minute it was Lautaro Martinez again who let the ball fidget in the net. The 2-0 was set in stone, so some players were given important minutes of play by Inzahgi. Among them was the Austrian Marko Arnautovic, who immediately celebrated his first appearance of the season after returning to the Italian fashion metropolis. Successful can be said, because he beautifully set up the 2-0 for his striker colleague Lautaro. It stayed that way until the final whistle.

Defending champion gets off to a perfect start Napoli enjoyed a perfect start in the Italian football championship. The defending champions prevailed 3-1 at Frosinone in the opening game of the new Serie A season on Saturday evening. Abdou Harroui shocked the champions early on with a converted penalty (7'), but Matteo Politano (24') and star striker Victor Osimhen with a brace (42', 79') turned things around.
