Inter's historic opportunity: derby victory and championship celebration?

For the first time in the history of Serie A, the Italian football champions could be crowned in a Milan derby.

If Inter wins against AC Milan at the San Siro on Monday (20.45:20 p.m.), Simone Inzaghi's team can no longer take away their 14th championship title. With six games remaining, the Nerazzurri's lead over their city rivals is a whopping XNUMX points.

Winning the title had been almost certain since the beginning of March. Since then, Inter fans have had the calculator in one hand and the game plan in the other. The signs are good for early Scudetto celebrations immediately after the “Derby della Madonnina”. Inter won all of the last five duels, and top scorer Lautaro Martinez is available again after a yellow card suspension.

City rivals Milan hope to be able to postpone the black and blue championship party for at least a week. The first derby win would also be important in the fight for second place. The “Rossoneri” are six points ahead of record champions Juventus, who are already visiting Cagliari on Friday. Behind them, Bologna and AS Roma are fighting for fourth place in a direct duel on Monday.
