FC Südtirol traveled to Brescia with a 1-0 home win against Feralpisalò last weekend. The white-blue team also recently underwent a coaching change - which was more than fruitful. Since taking over from long-time Serie A coach Rolando Maran, the Lombards have scored points in seven of eight games and are currently in impressive form. This series didn't end against FC Südtirol either, with the White-Reds taking a point from Lombardy with the fair 1-1 draw and leaving the pitch with their heads held high.
On Saturday afternoon, too, FC Südtirol showed itself as the fans know and love it: patient, hard-working and, above all, effective. While little happened on the pitch in Brescia in the first half, the home team picked up the pace significantly in the second half and went up a gear. The white and blue had one or two good chances to score, but it was always over at Giacomo Poluzzi's. The Talferstadt team didn't let themselves be disconcerted and defended their box bravely - until the time had finally come in the 65th minute.

Emanuele Pecorino rose highest after a Daniele Casiraghi cross and headed the ball over the line to make it 1-0. This goal went against the flow of the game and against the hopes of the previously better Lombards. But luck wasn't entirely on the South Tyroleans' side, as Brescia came back into the game after a penalty from Gennaro Borrelli and thwarted Valente's next coup.
The highlights
Initial palpation | Not much can be said about the first half. Both teams invested little in forward movement and concentrated on defense. The result: a tough first 45 minutes, which only gave hope for a better level in the second half. |
Scaglia on the line | Brescia is getting bolder. Scaglia avoided a 0-1 deficit with a heroic effort when he cleared a Brescia header off the line. A little later, substitute Van de Looi tries it from around 20 meters. However, Poluzzi clears the powerful shot over the goal. |
Pecorino from nowhere | Brescia played much better in the second half, but FCS took the lead after a corner from Daniele Casiraghi through Pecorino - 1-0 for South Tyrol. |
The counterattack | After a duel between Arrigoni and Borrelli, the referee gives a penalty. The fouled person steps up and sinks it into the bottom left corner to make it 1-1. |
Raphael Kofler once again played on the left back in a three-man chain and once again showed an impressive performance in the South Tyroleans' new 3-5-2 system. In front of him, Fabian Tait tried to maintain control in midfield, doing a lot to keep half of the White and Reds largely clean. Star newcomer Jasmin Kurtic came on as a substitute for Tommaso Arrigoni in the 82nd minute. But at the end of the day, the White and Reds didn't work enough forward for 90 minutes to be able to steal three points from Brescia.
At the same time, South Tyrol remains unbeaten in the 2024 calendar year and picked up four points from two games. On Saturday in a week's time (14.00 p.m.) the Talferstadt team can extend this point series against Cosenza Calcio to three games.
