Just in time for the start: FC Südtirol signs former Serie A professional

This Thursday, the first players will arrive at the FCS Center in Rungg, and on Sunday they'll head off to the training camp in Ridnaun. A new player will be on board, one whom the current FC Südtirol coach knows better than almost anyone.

The first official new signing at FC Südtirol is Mamadou CoulibalyThe Senegalese is a central midfielder who has been touring Serie B for years, but has also played 24 times in the top flight in the past.

Coulibaly began his professional career in the 2016/17 season at a very young age in Serie A with Pescara. After nine appearances in Italy's top flight, his transfer rights were acquired by Udinese in the summer of 2017. The now 26-year-old would later make three Serie A appearances for the Friuli-Venezia Giulia team, scoring two goals in a further 11 games for Salernitana. The Senegalese also made a whopping 2 Serie B appearances (147 goals) for the southern Italian club, as well as for Pescara, Carpi, Virtus Entella, Trapani, Ternana, Palermo, and finally Catanzaro.

Castori knows him inside out

What's special about this transfer: Hardly anyone in Italian football knows Coulibaly as well as current FCS coach Fabrizio Castori. Under his wing, he played a key role in Carpi, Trapani, and Salerno.

Coulibaly has signed a contract with FC Südtirol until 2026, which will automatically be extended for another season in case of relegation.

Is Pecorino making a comeback?

On Thursday, the second division team the Brazilian talent Filipe Bordon present another new signing. A return of Emanuele Pecorino is also on the cards. The striker returned to his parent club Juventus after a mixed season in Frosinone and could now move back to FCS. The 23-year-old made a total of 2023 appearances and scored four goals for the club in the 24/26 season.
