a Serie B

Brescia lost a dramatic match.

The 3-second drama of Brescia

The Serie B playoffs offer plenty of spectacle and drama. Like on Saturday evening between Brescia and Catanzaro.

It became clear once again on Saturday evening in Catanzaro that there are only millimeters (or in this case: three seconds) between heaven and hell in football. The southern Italians and Brescia faced each other in the playoff quarter-finals. For a long, long time it looked like a triumph for the guests from the north: Brescia led by Dimitri Bisoli (he is the son of ex-FCS coach Pierpaolo Bisoli) was leading 2-1 until injury time and thought they were already in the semifinals of the playoffs. But then things got dramatic.

The indicated six minutes of added time had almost passed when Catanzaro was awarded another corner. Goalkeepers, defenders - everyone ran forward. And indeed: three seconds before stoppage time expired and with the very last action, Antonio Donnarumma made it 2-2 - and saved Catanzaro into extra time. There the professionals from Calabria finally prevailed 4-2 and stormed into the semi-finals of the playoffs. Cremonese is waiting for Catanzaro, while Palermo and Venezia face each other in the second semi-final.
