Atalanta eliminated Milan and Lazio in the cup semi-finals

Milan and Roma were eliminated from the Coppa Italia on Wednesday evening. The Rossoneri lost at home to Atalanta despite taking the lead, and José Mourinho's team lost to local rivals Lazio in a heated duel.

Milan and Atalanta played a fast-paced game at San Siro, which the guests deservedly won 2-1. After Atalanta had the better chances in the first half, Rafael Leao made it 1-0 shortly before half-time. The Portuguese completed a counterattack via Theo Hernandez with a dry finish. Gianpiero Gasperini's team, who was sent off in the 38th minute due to protests, responded immediately. Teun Koopmeiners scored with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

It was also the Dutchman who scored the winning goal from a penalty in the 59th minute. The midfielder remained ice cold from the point. Milan's efforts to equalize were subsequently unrewarded. Atalanta will face Fiorentina in the semi-finals.

Lazio had previously won the city derby 1-0 - also thanks to a penalty that Mattia Zaccagni converted. In stoppage time, three players, Pedro, Sardar Azmoun and Gianluca Mancini, were shown the red card for jostling. Lazio will face either Juventus or Frosinone in the semi-finals. The game takes place on Thursday.
