Crazy final minutes: Atalanta is in the cup final

That was pure cup drama: In the second leg of the second semi-final of the Coppa Italia, Atalanta celebrated a memorable last-minute victory and thus made it to the final.

Juventus versus Atalanta – this is the pairing in the cup final, which will take place in Rome on May 15th. After the Turin team had already secured their ticket to the final against Lazio on Tuesday, Atalanta followed up with a 4-1 win over Fiorentina on Wednesday. However, the match was far more dramatic than the result suggests.

Atalanta had lost the first leg in Florence 0-1 and was therefore under pressure. Although the Bergamo team played with one more man for a long time (Fiorentina's Milenkovic received a red card in the 53rd minute for an emergency stop), they only led 2-1. So everything pointed to extra time, but things got crazy in the final minutes.

Offside or not?

In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Atalanta's Lookman scored with a powerful left-footed shot to make it 3-1 for his team. But the cheers quickly died down because the linesman had identified an offside position. But was that really offside? The video referee took another closer look at the scene - and revised the decision. The goal counted! Fiorentina then threw everything forward and Pasalic made everything clear with a counterattack - in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Atalanta – Fiorentina 4-1

Gates: 1:0 Koopmeiners (8th), 1:1 Martinez Quarta (68th), 2:1 Scamacca (75th), 3:1 Lookman (90th+4), 4:1 Pasalic (90th+8)
