FCS climbs to second place

The Serie C clubs from South Tyrol were on the road to success at the weekend. FC Südtirol and Meran Women won their games.

The FCS Women left nothing to be desired in the home game against SPAL. After around half an hour the game was decided. After a brace from Ranja Fischer (7th, 22nd) and a goal from Markart (Fischer had previously hit the post), the white and red women led 3-0. Fischer again increased the lead to 4-0 (37th) before SPAL scored again in the second half. With the win, the South Tyroleans have caught up with second-placed Trento.

The Meran Women are lonely at the top of the table. After Trent's slip-up, the spa town's women are a whopping 8 points ahead of second place. Nevertheless, Meran struggled for a long time in the away game against Padova before Stefanie Reiner made it 2-1 (0'). The former Brixner won after a corner. The second goal was scored by Anna Katharina Peer, who scored with a remarkable long shot (53').
