Oberliga: Two derbies in focus – St. Georgen challenged in Mori

Brixen - Salurn under different circumstances

In addition to SSV Naturns, another South Tyrolean top league team is up to its neck. We're talking about SSV Brixen, who were embarrassed to the bone in the 0-6 defeat in the derby against Plose on Wednesday. In the upcoming match against Salurn they will have to give a real test of character. “Fortunately, you don’t have long to think about this gossip. We have the chance to make amends on Sunday and we have to take advantage of it,” explains Brixen coach Stefan Gasser. Salurn is traveling to the cathedral city with a big chest after the 2-0 win against Bozner FC. However, the Bertoncini team also urgently needs points to avoid falling into the relegation vortex. Striker Max Dalpiaz also knows this: “We are traveling to Brixen to win. We absolutely need the points. We must not underestimate our opponent under any circumstances.”

Toughest test for St. Georgen

SC St. Georgen faces a real test on Sunday. The Morini squad and league top scorer Joachim Degasperi host Mori Santo Stefano. The people of Trentino are currently occupying the place in the sun, but they feel the breath of their pursuers on their necks. St. Georgen is now in sixth place in the table together with Tramin. With a “threesome” against Mori, the Pusterers could move into the top third of the table. The same applies to the white-blacks from Weindorf, who face the fourth Calciochiese. After the safe win against Naturns, Tramin definitely wants to stick to its successful path and overtake the promoted team from Trentino with a win in a direct duel.

With Bozner FC, another South Tyrolean top division team is in action against a top team from the neighboring province. The Talferstädter host Comano, second in the table. SC Plose, on the other hand, wants to add sustainability to its derby coup against Brixen with another full point win against relegation candidate Alense and further fuel hopes of staying in the league.

Six-point game for Eppan

The duel between the immediate table neighbors Eppan and Trento also guarantees excitement. The Überetscher absolutely need to score points in order to leave the former professional club behind and gain some breathing room in the relegation battle. “Trient may be having big problems as a club at the moment, but I am sure that all the players on the field will show 100 percent effort. We must find the right means to keep them at bay while capitalizing on our opportunities. A win would be extremely important,” emphasizes FCE defender Christian Avancini.
