Young footballers don't let the rain bother them

Only for the second time in the 35-year history of the VSS/Raiffeisen finals was a club represented by three teams. Bozner FC only lost the U13 final on penalties and took third place in the U10 and U15 age groups. In 2001, SV Lana took third, fourth and fourth place. Meanwhile, the Vinschgau district was not represented in any finals for the second time in a row.

In a high-class U13 final, the favored AFC Südtirol was 0-2 behind against its city rivals Bozner FC. Shortly before the end of the game, FC Südtirol equalized and ultimately won 4-3 after a penalty shootout. This means that the professional club's youngsters have won a title for the fourth time in a row.

In the U15 final between Ritten Sport and Jenesien the score was 2-2 after regular time. Afterwards, Jenesien experienced déjà vu. As in the previous year, the team lost the final on penalties after a 2-2 draw. In the U-11 final, ASV Dietenheim/Aufhofen did better than last year, when the Pusterers lost 0-2. This time Dietenheim/Aufhofen won 3-0 against ASC Neugries. In the U10 final, ASC Passeier beat SPG Frangart, Girlan/St. Pauls with 3:1.

542 teams took part in the VSS/Raiffeisen football championships this year. That's the equivalent of 4800 games that were played across the country between September and November and between March and May. 160 referees officiate around 235 games per week.

Young footballers don't let the rain bother them

After 4800 games across the country, the VSS/Raiffeisen youth football national champions were crowned for the 36th time on Sunday in Seis/Laranz in partly pouring rain. The titles went to ASC Passeier (U10), ASV Dietenheim/Aufhofen (U11), AFC Südtirol (U13) and ASV Ritten Sport (U15).
