6 goals and a farewell: Great emotions in the ancient derby

The third Oberliga matchday on Sunday was dominated by the historic derby between Tramin and St. Pauls. The six-goal spectacle turned emotional.

The ancient derby between Tramin and St. Pauls lived up to its promise and became a true offensive spectacle. The nearly 1.000 fans at the Tramin sports field saw six goals, with the scores evenly split: the final score was 3-3. The match offered plenty of emotions, but things really got emotional after the final whistle.

Then Tramin bid farewell to its long-time figurehead, Stefan Rellich. The central defender spent his entire career at his hometown club and played a significant role in shaping the club over the past two decades. Rellich has played a significant role in Tramin's current status as one of the top teams in the Oberliga. After 19 seasons, 369 games, and 43 goals, the 36-year-old fruit farmer is now leaving his beloved club.

Rellich witnessed a true spectacle on Sunday, with St. Pauls taking the lead three times: Gabriel Degasperi with a stunning shot from 25 meters (5th minute), Denis Recla with a tap-in (15th minute), and Philipp Schweigkofler with a header (70th minute) had the Blue-Whites celebrating, but Tramin always had an answer. The in-form David Toll with a brace (7th, 57th minute) and veteran Simon Greif from close range (82nd minute) equalized each time.

Upside down world in Bolzano

A few kilometers further north, the second major derby between Bozen FC and Virtus Bozen took place on Sunday. Bozen FC continued its winning run, winning 40-77 thanks to goals from Moritz Gamper (2th minute) and Mattia Zeni (1th minute). Matteo Timpone's goal just before the final whistle was not enough for Virtus Bozen.

It is therefore a topsy-turvy world that prevails in the regional capital: Bozen FC, one of the hottest candidates for relegation before the start of the season, leads the Oberliga with the maximum number of points (nine), while Virtus Bozen, actually the favorite for the title, lies in the lower middle of the table with only three points.

In the third South Tyrolean duel, Brixen beat Partschins 1-0 (goal by Magib Mbengue), while Ahrntal celebrated its first win of the season with a 2-0 victory against Lavis. Val Gardena defeated Levico 3-0, while San Giorgio lost 1-2 to Union Trento.
