A place on the podium: Salurn crowns its season

The 30th and final state league matchday opened on Saturday. The big winner of the day is the former Oberliga Dino Salurn.

Latsch was the big surprise team this year, circling almost exclusively behind the top duo Brixen and Bruneck. But at the end of the championship there is another team in third place: Salurn. In the last championship game, the Unterlandlers and Latsch met, with Salurn winning 3-2 and thus ending the season in third place.

A special satisfaction for the yellow-reds: Last year, the former top league dinosaur only narrowly missed relegation to the 1st amateur league, now Hugo Pomella's team seems to be slowly but surely returning to their old glory. But Latsch's football year was also impressive, after all the Christian Pixner team annoyed many supposedly "big ones" this year.

Bertoldi scores for the 27th time

On Saturday it was exceptional striker Fabio Bertoldi who led Salurn to victory with a penalty goal in the 18th minute. It was the 27th championship goal for the clipper - an incredible achievement. Simon Baldo increased the score to 2-0 shortly before half-time, and Fabian Lechner restored Latsch's lead right after the break, but it wasn't enough to equalize.

In the second game on Saturday, Gitschberg Jochtal beat Ahrntal 3-2. It was a wild match in which Ahrntal turned the 0-1 deficit to 2-1 with a double strike within a few seconds (goals from Stefan Pareiner and Matthias Gaisler). But Stefan Krsic and Christian Vecchio ensured Gitschberg's victory at the finish.

Everything ready for the big finale

The remaining games of the last matchday will take place on Sunday afternoon. Then it will also be decided which team, alongside Ridnauntal and St. Martin Moos, has to go into the 1st amateur league. Milland, Schenna and Riffian Kuens are still fighting to stay in the league. SSV Brixen has been known as champions for weeks. The Eisacktaler are still unbeaten this season – will that change on Sunday against Bruneck?
