Bruneck takes the lead in the standings

The first part of the third matchday of the Landesliga took place on Saturday. Bruneck took the lead in the standings, while Olimpia Meran continued to impress.

Bruneck has been at the top of the regional league for years, but the Pustertal team has repeatedly missed the promotion they longed for in recent seasons. That looks set to change this season. At least they've had a good start: With a 2-1 win against Salorno (a brace from Justin Pfeiffer) on Saturday, Bruneck secured the maximum haul of nine points from three matches and thus took sole lead in the standings – partly because rival Naturno slipped up in Lana.

Not only did Vinschgau lose their first game of the season 0-2, but they also conceded their first goals. Emil Grezzani became the match-winner for Lana with a brace in the 52nd and 62nd minutes. At the same time, the hosts moved ahead of Naturno in the table.

Olimpia doesn’t let up

Newly promoted Olimpia Merano continues to make waves in the regional league. The spa town team celebrated a decisive 4-0 away win in Schenna and remains unbeaten after their third league match. Olimpia overwhelmed their opponents in the first half, scoring all four goals: Armando Kozi scored twice (12th and 37th minutes), Younes Jamai (26th minute), and an own goal by Peter Wörndle (19th minute) sealed the victory.

Gitschberg Jochtal also remains undefeated after a narrow 3-2 victory against Freienfeld, who are still pointless. Tscherms Marling and Gargazon drew 3-3 in a high-scoring duel.
