Hot derby Sunday in the Oberliga

Tramin vs. St. Pauls and Bozner FC vs. Virtus Bozen – it doesn't get more of a derby than this! Two big treats await Oberliga fans on Sunday.

Hardly any match in South Tyrolean amateur football has such a storied history as Tramin vs. St. Pauls. It's not for nothing that the encounter between the two traditional clubs is called an ancient derby. Around 1.000 fans are expected in the Tramin stands on Sunday – something you don't often see in local football.

From a sporting perspective, the starting position is as follows: Tramin goes into the derby with a clean sheet – that is, with six out of six possible points – while St. Pauls has won one match and lost one match.

Bolzano derby on the city festival weekend

The famous Old Town Festival is taking place in the state capital this weekend—is it ironic that the clash between the two Bolzano top-flight teams is taking place right then? On Sunday, Bozen FC and Virtus Bozen will face off. The Talfer sports field (home of Bozen FC) and the Righi Stadium (home of Virtus Bozen) are only a few hundred meters apart—it's almost impossible to imagine a more derby-like match.

Bozen FC has been the surprise of the season so far: Considered a major relegation candidate before the start of the championship, Hugo Pomella's team has won two of their two matches. Virtus Bozen – the title favorite – has "only" three points.

There's also a heated derby in the regional league: Tscherms Marling hosts Gargazon, a newly promoted team from the 1st Amateur League, on Saturday. A truly exciting football weekend awaits.
