A bang at Schenna! This step came a bit out of nowhere, but the regional league team has parted ways with head coach Alex Mayr with immediate effect. Mayr was only introduced as the new Schenna coach in the summer, and his term in office is now coming to an early end.
“After careful consideration, the club has decided to part ways with coach Alex Mayr. The current situation in the relegation battle has prompted us to take a new path,” the Schenners begin the statement on social media. “Everyone knew that this season would be a challenge. But the fact that we would still be so deep in the relegation battle with six laps to go surprised us. The club management has therefore come to the decision that new impulses are necessary to achieve our goal,” the board continued.
The new man's name is Gögele
In 24 league games under Alex Mayr, Schenna only celebrated five wins. Seven games ended in a draw, and the Schenners left the field as losers in twelve games. The White-Reds are currently not in a relegation zone, but are only a measly point away from it.The new head coach of Schenna: Veit Gögele. © Social Media
The new man on the sidelines is called Veit Gögele. He is also a player himself (he has played five games so far this season), has already acted as a youth coach and has the UEFA B coaching license in his pocket. “We have full confidence in him and are convinced that he will lead us safely through the relegation battle,” says the club combatively. One Gögele on the pitch (Jakob) and one on the bench (Veit): Can anything go wrong?
