Adrian Lechl scores in the Innsbruck derby

Wacker Innsbruck started the new season with a convincing victory. South Tyrolean Adrian Lechl also scored.

Just one week after the end of the World Cup, Austrian football resumed play. The first matches of the Austrian Cup (ÖFB Cup) took place on Saturday. One particularly exciting match was played: Wacker Innsbruck, currently playing in the second division, faced SVG Reichenau (third division) in a city derby.

In the end, Wacker Innsbruck celebrated a resounding 3-0 victory, a match that also bore the hallmarks of a South Tyrolean player. Adrian Lechl from Lüsen opened the scoring. After 20 minutes, the 21-year-old winger confidently converted a penalty to make it 1-0. In front of 3.000 spectators, Lechl was also one of his team's most active players and was involved in Anderson Rodriguez's goal to make it 2-0. All in all, a successful season opener.
