Terzic expects BVB to stay: “I have faith in it”

Dortmund football teacher Edin Terzic apparently has no doubts about staying at Borussia Dortmund despite his team's ongoing decline. “Of course I believe in it,” he replied the disappointing 1:1 against FSV Mainz when asked whether he believed he would still be BVB coach in the new year. To get in the mood for the rest of the season, the Bundesliga fifth-place team, which has now been winless in six competitive games, will play a one-week training camp in Marbella (Spain) at the beginning of January.

Terzic was similarly combative in the first TV interviews after the final whistle of the game, which was accompanied by whistles: “I have signed a contract until 2025, and in doing so I have documented how much and how long I would like to stay at this club,” he said 41-year-old at Sat.1. With a serious expression he added: “How long I am here is not up to me. Of course, the leadership and the result decide that. And the results in the last few weeks just haven’t been good, we know that.”

According to reports, the club bosses want to carry out their regular analysis of the season so far before Christmas. An assessment of the trainer's work should also be carried out. Sports director Sebastian Kehl and managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke did not comment on the situation on Tuesday evening. Media reports about an alleged “player rebellion” against Terzic had already caused additional explosiveness before the game.

Terzic remains confident

The football teacher referred to similarly critical situations in the past, when he had freed the team from an unfortunate situation and led them to a cup victory and another time almost to a championship: “It's part of my history at Borussia that we were in the The second half of the season always showed a completely different face.
