A national player for BVB

Borussia Dortmund has signed national player Pascal Groß. As the club announced, the 33-year-old is moving from English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion to BVB and has been given a contract until summer 2026.

According to reports, Groß is now traveling with the team to the training camp in Bad Ragaz (Switzerland). A dream has come true for the midfielder, said Groß in a video that the club released shortly after the transfer was announced. "I supported BVB my whole childhood," said Groß. Accordingly, his decision was made quickly after he received the offer. According to the TV broadcaster Sky, Dortmund will pay 7,5 million euros plus a possible two million euros bonus for Groß. The club itself did not comment on a transfer fee.

"Pascal has developed into an absolute top performer in recent years. He will make us more stable and flexible, help us with his experience and have a very positive influence as a leader," said BVB managing director Lars Ricken.

Sports director Kehl: A “sly fox”

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl added that Groß is a "sly fox" and poses a goal threat in many areas. "We are convinced that he will enrich our game and strengthen us with his will to win and his personality."

For Groß, it is a return to the Bundesliga after seven years in England, where he already played for FC Ingolstadt. He made his Bundesliga debut in 2009 for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

After Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy (both from VfB Stuttgart), Groß is Dortmund's third major transfer this summer. He completes BVB's midfield around his national team colleague Emre Can.
