BVB saviour in need: Praise for Guirassy and Bensebaini

Serhou Guirassy once again proved to be a savior in times of need. The new signing from Stuttgart's header in the 83rd minute for the 2-1 (1-0) win over St. Pauli saved Borussia Dortmund from a further dampening of spirits after a mixed start to the season.

As in the last home game against Bochum (4:2) with his first double in the black and yellow jersey, the Guinean national player took on the role of match winner. "He is super professional. An absolute professional who is used to performing every three days," enthused sports director Sebastian Kehl.

Although the striker was one of the last professionals to return from the international break with two matches for his country, he struck with ice-cold precision just five minutes after the promoted team equalised through Eric Smith (78th minute). The agreement between Dortmund and the Guinean association thus paid off. "We tried to influence the national team's time," revealed Kehl. "He didn't play the full game twice. That was good."

Sahin praises Bensebaini

At the end of a lackluster performance by the team, extra praise was given not only to Guirassy, but also to Rami Bensebaini. According to Kehl, the header that gave the team a 1-0 lead two minutes before half-time "did the full-back a lot of good". After all, the Algerian international has not been a regular player for some time and only moved into the starting eleven due to the injury of new signing Yan Couto.

Like Kehl, coach Nuri Sahin also expressed his appreciation for Bensebaini. "I said in the summer that I find this player very exciting. I was already a huge fan of his when he was still playing for Gladbach," said the BVB coach. Sahin is hoping for an initial spark: "Hopefully this is a step in the right direction for him. Now it's about getting consistency in his game."
